Ann Dorothy (Kramer) Studer was born February 27, 1958 in Algona, IA to Andrew and Laura Kramer. Her family welcomed her as their third child after brother, Raymond and sister, Dorothy. Ann longed to be a nurse from the time she was in the second grade.
She was raised on the family farm in rural St. Joseph, IA and graduated with honors in 1976 from (Bishop) Garrigan High School in Algona, IA. Ann went on to graduate from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA in 1979. She worked as a nurse first at Kossuth Regional Health Center and then at Methodist and Mercy Medical Centers. Ann was an exceptional Intensive Care and Critical Care Nurse. She also served her community as a traveling nurse for many years.
Ann married James Studer in July of 1977 and they moved to Des Moines in 1982 to raise their family, son, Andrew and daughter, Amy. She enjoyed craftwork such as knitting, crocheting, and embroidering and also enjoyed reading. Family was important to her and she loved her children and her grandchildren unconditionally. She was an animal lover and liked taking care of her cats and her dog, Chewy.
Ann passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the age of 57. Services will be held Thursday evening, June 11, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with funeral service to start at 6:00 p.m.
Ann is survived by her son, Andrew (Jennifer) Studer of West Des Moines; daughter, Amy (Travis) Lehman of Marshalltown; mother, Laura Kramer of Algona; grandchildren, Tyler Studer, Christopher Laffey, Carson Laffey, Caleb Studer, Michael Lehman, Jacob Lehman, and Makayla Lehman; sister, Sister Dorothy Kramer of Chicago, IL; and other loving relatives and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Kramer and her brother, Raymond Kramer.

Please accept my sympathy at this time of your loss of Ann. I never met her but share one thing: my mother was also a graduate of Mercy Sioux City many years ago. Therefore, I think she was a excellent nurse. And I think her nursing skills made her a wonderful, caring mother. May you share the peace she know knows fully.

I'm so sorry to hear of Ann's passing. Growing up I always thought about her because we shared the same name. Always seemed kind of special and different. Prayers for Andy and Amy and all those that love her. I pray for you all to find peace in her passing.
