Harold William Martin, 82, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, also at Hamilton’s.

Harold was born April 19, 1933 in Hedrick, Iowa to Riley and Francis Martin. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist at Delevans and Parr Manufacturing. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and square dancing.

He is survived by his daughters, Janice Lawless of Urbandale and Joyce (Tony) Trout of Des Moines; grandchildren, Whitney, Anthony, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Furi, Hailey, and Kendyl; and his sister, Mary Lou Burk of Des Moines.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Georgianna “Jan” Martin; brothers, Ralph, Paul, Lawrence, and Albert Lee; and his son-in-law, Jerry Lawless.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown in appreciation of their care of Harold.
