Betty Jane Mauk, of Des Moines, passed away with her family beside her on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Taylor Hospice House. Betty was born on June 4, 1929 in Des Moines to Roy Henry and Goldie Mertle (Hall) Otto.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five sons, David (Ginny), Bruce (Janet), Len (Jane), Ken (Vickie) and Keith (Linda); grandchildren, Jeni, Matt, Mike, Michelle, Rodney, Jeffrey, Ric, Lisa, Angie, Brandy, Jody, Jerry, Kristina, Holly, Brandon, Krystin, Stephanie, Nichole, Bryce, Brian, Heidi and Holly; and great-grandchildren, Blake, Brady, Scott, Sam, Noelle, Cassidy, Noah, Kaleb, Carsyn, Joshua, Lenny, Sheri, Skielur, Ryan, Shyann, Riley, Jake, Bailey, Shelby, Samuel, Shane, Cael, Michael, Austin, Tabatha, Daniel, Gage, Trinity, MacKenzie, Christopher, LiliAnna, Kyler, Abby, Amelie, Kira, Broderick, Payton, Kaleb and Joy; sisters, Margaret (Leon) Epps and Rosemary Fenton; brother, Ed Otto; and other extended family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; granddaughter, Stephanie; and grandson, Michael.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Elm Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Taylor Hospice House in memory of Betty.

ken and Vickie we are so sorry that you guys are hurting from the loss of a beloved family member. I know how deep the hurt goes, but god is with you guys he will see you though this. we will be praying for you guys.

ken and vickie , I know the deep loss that is felt when we have to say good bye to those we love so very much. I guess were selffish and want them to stay forever... I pray the lord will comfort you . Jerry and I send our condolences. You are in our thoughts and prayers.. REST IN PEACE BETTY...
