Katherine Wion
June 05, 2015
Katherine Wion, 77, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2015. She was born June 25, 1937, in Mt. Ayr, Iowa to Herman and Lucille Webb.
Katherine graduated from Mt. Ayr Public in 1955. Following graduation, she attended beauty school in Des Moines and received her beautician’s license. She then worked as a file clerk for American Republic Insurance Company before devoting herself to her home and family for many years. Returning to the insurance industry, Katherine retired as a file clerk from Continental Western Insurance Company.
Katherine was a member of Norwoodville Baptist Church. She had a great love for animals, especially dogs, and raised chickens, ducks, and geese at her home. She also found enjoyment in gardening, sewing, quilting, and crafting. Her greatest love came from spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Katherine is survived by her husband, Lester Junior; children, Lisa (Jeff) Searcy and Chad (Tammy) Wion; grandchildren, Jeff Searcy, Caitlin Searcy, and Wesley Searcy; brothers, Kenneth (Polly) Webb and Ronald (Eileen) Webb; as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Norwoodville Baptist Church, 4690 NE 29th Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Norwoodville Baptist Church in loving memory of Katherine.
