Des Moines
Donna Jean Brown, 86, of Des Moines, Iowa, entered into the presence of her Savior on Monday, June 1, 2015, at Methodist Hospital with her family beside her. Donna was born on February 14, 1929 in St. Charles, Iowa, to Raymond and Pauline (Miller) Travis.
Donna graduated from Lincoln High School June 6, 1946. She retired in 1994 after over 25 years of service as a secretary for the Polk County Mental Health Center. Donna was a long-time member of Grace Brethren Church and her faith was a defining aspect of her life. She was a devout Christian and lived her life with a servant’s heart. Donna was a prayer warrior for her family and those in need.
Donna’s family was extremely important to her. She enjoyed traveling around the United States. She took numerous bus trips to Branson and other favorite destinations and enjoyed crafting in her spare time. She was very frugal and practical, but had an open heart and would give to anyone in need. She was a strong woman and raised her four sons on her own.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Randy Brown of Osceola and Rusty Brown (Kathy) of Centerville, OH; daughters-in-law, Linda Brown of Altoona and Chris Brown of Sebring, FL; 35 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Larry Brown and Dennis Brown; daughter-in-law, Judy Brown; and her siblings, Dean Travis and Betty Cunningham.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, also at Hamilton’s, followed by a brief committal service at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, Iowa.

Rusty and Randy: I remember your mom as one who was extremely kind, gentle and as being one that easily shared her love for the Lord.
Even though I haven't had the opportunity to speak with Donna for quite some time, I am still going to miss her dearly.

Randy, Rusty and Families,
We were saddened but rejoice with you at Donna's home going."
We have very good memories of Donna, and her family, especially while pastoring First Brethren there in Des Moines. She was always a joy to be with. It was a joy to have her son, Denny, as our son-in-law. Our prayers for God's grace and comfort are with you all at this time. John 14:27. Pastor Milt, Sue, and the rest of the Ryerson family.
