Betty Barkley

Elizabeth “Betty” Barkley, 73, of Norwalk went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Willow Creek Baptist Church with burial following at the Norwalk Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday evening at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 P.M. Order of the Eastern Star service.
Betty was a 52 year member of the Goodwill Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Norwalk. In her later years she had enjoyed the fellowship of the Willow Creek Baptist Church, the Martensdale Meal Site and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Dan (Celeste) Barkley of Marion, Iowa, her daughters Becky Barkley of Des Moines and Sandy (Bob) Baker of Des Moines, her grandchildren Nathanael (Kari) Barkley of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Brandon Barkley of Cedar Rapids and Jordan Barkley of Marion, her sister Phyllis Galbraith of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, her “adopted” daughter Susan Ward and her children J.P. and Daniel as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Birdie Randall, her sister Mildred Logsdon and her great grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Cancer Center.
