Jack M. Rynearson, 85, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. He was born December 4, 1929 to John and Opal (Carson) Rynearson in Des Moines.
Jack graduated from North High School and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Norma Burgess in 1950, and retired from Meredith Publishing as a pressman after 43 ½ years of service. Jack was a long time member of Grand View Lutheran Church and VFW Post 9662 Boline Manfredi. He loved to cook, plant flowers, camp, and go fishing with his friends.
Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma; children, Debra (Tom) Woitaszewski and Todd (Sherry) Rynearson; grandchildren, Jaime (Paul) Johnson and Travis Woitaszewski; great-grandchildren, Carson, Ashton, and Isabella; and a host of loving family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Charlene Bentall.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Grand View Lutheran Church, 2930 E. 13th Street, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue.

We are so sorry to learn about the passing of Uncle Jack. Jack was always upbeat and would greet me with a firm handshake and a smile every time we were down to visit for a family event. I always enjoyed visiting with him. Due to circumstances beyond my control I cannot attend the visitation or the funeral. Please know we will be with you there in spirit. Our condolences to Norma, Todd and Sherry, and everyone else in the family. We will miss him dearly.

Although I didn't personally know Mr. Rynearson, I do want to express my condolences to the family.
I work with Sherry Rynearson and know of some of the recent challenges that Mr. and Mrs. Rynearson have been dealing with.
I'm sorry to learn of Mr. Rynearson's passing and I recognize the void/sadness his passing creates for the family.
Sherry always speaks compassionately and lovingly of her in-laws. I know she and her husband Todd will truly miss Mr. Rynearson.
It's never easy to lose a loved one and the timing is never good. I would like the Rynearson family to know youll all be in my prayers as you go about adjusting to this significant change in your lives.

We so are going to miss Jack. We had many wonderful talks as we worked with him in the Mercy Park kitchen. He was a great cook and a real good friend. So shocked and sorry to have him leave us this way. He loved Elvis Presley's Gospel songs and his favorite song he told me was "Some Days are Diamonds" I know his family and Norma will miss him.

We always called him Uncle Jack. So sorry to hear of this loss. We use to visit him when I was younger. Gone but not forgotten. Rest in Peace.
