Robert L. "Bob" Patterson

Robert L. Patterson, 85, passed away May 15, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at West Liberty Cemetery.

Robert “Bob” was born December 24, 1929 to Dewey and Marcia (Curtis) Patterson in West Liberty, Iowa. He graduated from West Liberty High School in 1947. On October 28, 1951 Bob was united in marriage to Janet Lea Emlet. They were blessed with two daughters. Bob had worked for Eagle Iron Works, Keith Electric and fifteen years at Walmart before retiring. He loved to read, garden and work on cars. He and Janet traveled fifteen years to their vacation home in Venice, Florida. They enjoyed their time together and playing scrabble.

Bob is survived by his wife, Janet; two daughters: Barbara (David) Williams and Susan (Gary) Shultz; five grandchildren: Stacy (Katie) Williams, Kelly Williams, Gary Lee (Kristin) Shultz, Jr., Melissa (Paul) Egli, and Morgan (Jason) Williams; eleven great-grandchildren: Emily, Grace and Addison Williams, Hayden and Violet Shultz, Hunter, Bailey and Tahlor Egli, Rylie, Andrew and Pierce Williams; and one brother, Richard Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
