Eleanor (Carroll) McLaughlin, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015. She was born May 25, 1925 to John and Ella (Shope) Carroll in Des Moines, Iowa.
Eleanor was first and foremost a loving Mother and Grandmother. She was a member of the Basilica of St. John, Altar and Rosary Society, and Catholic Daughters. Eleanor enjoyed long walks with her friends and beloved Beagles around Drake University Campus.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Ayse) McLaughlin; sister, Rosie O’Reily; and grandchildren, Peter, Brianna, and Gregory.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard McLaughlin; and sisters, Francis Knight, Margaret Brosnahan, Theresa Contri, and Agnes Jolly.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 19th with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Basilica of St. John, 1915 University Avenue in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20th at the Basilica of St. John, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Basilica of St. John in loving memory of Eleanor.

Miss her, she was such a fun aunt.
We always enjoyed her company when we we growing up.
The last time I seen her was at mom's (Catherine) funeral.

Steven, Ayse & Family, Jerry & I are deeply sadden for the loss of your mother. Your mother had a great sense of humor. Many times when she would visit Jerry's store, he would have funny stories to tell. God bless you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
