Wayne Allen Chapman was born November 26, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Samuel and Dora (Rife) Chapman. He passed away Wednesday morning, May 13, 2015 at the age of 85.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, also at Hamilton’s, followed by interment at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, Iowa at 12:30 p.m.

Wayne joins his parents, son, Mark, and six siblings who precede him in death. He is survived by his son, Kent (Lisa) Chapman; daughter, Deborah (Kenneth Jr.) Steffens; significant other, Joan Azinger; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Wayne proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Caiman. Throughout his life, he owned a car dealership, sold real estate, and was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 109 and Za Ga Zig Shrine and enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting.
