Millard Kerr

Millard Lee Kerr (ML) was born November 2, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jesse and Beulah (Mace) Kerr. He passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the age of 85 in Bradenton, Florida.

Lee graduated from North High School in 1947. He attended Drake University where he played in the band. Lee proudly served in the Naval Reserves. He excelled in everything he did especially in the insurance industry for over 50 years. He owned his own insurance agencies for over 30 years winning numerous awards. Lee held many memberships within the community such as Gnemeth Masonic Lodge #577, Za Ga Zig Shrine in Altoona and Clive, and as a Mobile Noble. He will be remembered as a hard worker, quick witted, and dog lover. Lee traveled extensively to places such as, Alaska, Hawaii, Switzerland, Vienna, Ireland, Hong Kong and many more.

Lee is survived by the mother of his six children whom he was married to for 29 years, Marjorie Martin (Blaser); his daughters, Linda Allen, Sandi (Tom) Morris, Shari (Pete) Leo, and Jeri (Mike) Schrimper; sons, Mike (Joni) Kerr and Steve (Becky) Kerr; step-son, Chuck Toomer; 15 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and his beloved beagle, Cindy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kay Kerr; brother, Bill Kerr; sister, Dorothy Myers; daughter, Amy Sue Kerr; and son-in-law, Larry Allen.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, May 22nd followed by interment at Masonic Cemetery.
