Viola "Ludy" Teigen

Viola Teigen, 66, passed away on May 5, 2015, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, IA. She was born June 8, 1948, in Des Moines, to Otto and Marjorie Rench.

Ludy grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Tech High School in 1966. She married Marvin Teigen in 1969 and to this union two daughters were born, Christina and Katherine. Ludy and Marvin later divorced in 1987. She worked in check processing for more than 30 years and was most recently working for Fiserve.

Ludy will be remembered as a wonderful mom and grandma as she was the family’s rock and foundation. Ludy was always active in her daughter’s numerous activities from softball to girl scouts, and that didn’t change when she became a grandma. She was always present at her grandchildren’s baseball games, dance competitions and scouting events. Ludy treasured her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren any chance she had.

In addition to being with her family, Ludy enjoyed camping, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her great network of friends.

The family would like to thank her wonderful friends for their support and love during this difficult time.

She is survived by her daughters, Christina (Steve) Bowers and Katherine (Mike) Davis; grandchildren, Lindsey (Nick) McNeley, Tyler Hackett, Matthew Bowers, Ryan Davis, Emily Bowers, and Connor Davis; great-granddaughter, Lily White; brother, Farrell Rench; aunt, Hazel Farnum; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Howard Rench, Alice Kephart, Larry Rench, and Joan Allbee.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with services beginning at 12 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice in loving memory of Ludy.
