Karna K. DeHart, 75, passed away from complication with Leukemia on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born on September 28, 1939 in Clarion, Iowa to Karl and Gwendolyn (Roach) Weber. Karna married Terry DeHart on May 23, 1972.
Karna worked for over 30 years for the Des Moines Register from where she retired. She was a member of Tops and the East Side Library Book Club. Karna was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Animal Rescue League. She loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved granddaughters.
Karna is survived by her husband, Terry; daughter, Samantha; granddaughters, Kaylea McGregor and Arianna DeHart; cousin, Cheryl Hilgendorf; and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Memorial service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 13, also at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society and to the ARL of Iowa.

My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. Karna was an influential person to me in my teenage years. She was a friend of my mothers when she lived in Alameda Ca. I often thought of her and smile of good memories of her and her little dog Wiggles.

I will never forget our years of attending the Madrid City wide garage sales. We always found good bargains shopping for the grandkids. At noon we'd go back to my house for maid rites. It was so much fun! Each fall for years we stood in line to be the early birds at the annual Madrid Library book sale. Because of her I am a Dean Koontz fanatic.
Karna was the kindest person I know - always putting others ahead of herself, & so generous.
She was a good friend, an angel on earth & now an angel in heaven. My heart goes out to all of you for your loss - may you take comfort in your memories.

Karna and I were in TOPS together and I enjoyed her friendship so much. Praying for all of you as you grieve her loss. I shall miss her so very much.

I was shocked to hear about the passing of Karna. Her and I use to take Sammy and Michelle to campfire girls camp. She was a very nice person.
