Dixie L. Aller

Dixie Lee Aller, 74, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at Unity Point Hospice Taylor House. The family will greet friends beginning at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015, followed by a memorial service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Dixie was born March 25, 1941 in Des Moines. She was a lifelong Des Moines resident. Dixie retired in 2003 from CDS after 25 years of service and worked at Hobby Lobby for seven more years. It gave her so much joy to be able to spend time with her great-grandson. Dixie will forever be remembered for her exceptional craft making abilities. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and laughter, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Dixie is survived by her son, Jeff Aller; siblings, Floyd (Brenda) Howard, Jay (Trish) Howard, Larry (Judy) Howard, Terry (Bobby) Dalton, Sandra (Dennis) Dop, Debbie Martin and Gale (Randy) Hines; grandson, Joshua (Katie) Close; a great-grandson, George Close; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristi Aller-Close; husband, George Aller; and her parents, Elmer and Mildred Green.
