Jan Cohn, 40, passed away April 14, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born in Mason City, IA on December 3, 1974, the daughter of Randy and Sarah Stephenson.
Jan graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree and The John Marshall Law School with an LLM degree in real estate. She worked as an assistant regional counsel for the United States General Services Administration for many years.
Jan loved animals, especially dogs, and loved to travel. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed spending time with her niece, Jayda, and nephew, TJ.
Jan gave the gift of life through organ, tissue, and eye donation.
Jan is survived by her father, Randy Stephenson (Joleen); brothers, Robert Stephenson (Shelli) and Michael Stephenson; significant other, Henry Nuez and his nephew, Jake; grandparents, Phyllis McIntosh and John Woods; aunts, Betty Grimes and Gail Simons; uncle, Doug Stephenson; as well as many other loved ones and her dog, Abbey. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Stephenson; grandparents, Mary & Aldon Annis, and Betty & Roy Stephenson.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation in loving memory of Jan.

I worked with Jan at the Army Corps of Engineers. I was shocked and saddened to learn of her passing. She was a vibrant, intelligent woman with a wicked sense of humor, which I loved. She made the world a better place by being in it.
