Orlando “Lonnie” Rudolph Severino, 72, passed away peacefully of lung cancer at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.

Lonnie was born December 12, 1942, in Des Moines to Victor Severino and Catherine (Lucia) Severino. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Lonnie was a barber for 26 years and retired from Polk County in 2010. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 49 years, April; son, Mark Severino; daughter, Holly (John) Bonanno; brother, Jim (Susan) Severino; and grandchildren, Giovanni, Lucca, Catherine, Isabella and Benjamin.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Victoria.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. Lonnie will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
