Helen Rarick

Helen Kilberg Rarick, 93, of Clive, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1:30 pm in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.

Helen was born to Charles and Ruth Kilberg, November 26, 1921, and resided in Sioux City until 1991 when she and husband Robert moved to West Des Moines to be close to their son, Richard and his family. Helen and Robert were married April 27, 1940, and spent many happy years together until Robert’s death on December 3, 2004. Helen worked for many years as a bakery manager for several places in and around Sioux City and was known for her beautiful birthday cakes. She was active in several craft and needle work clubs and especially enjoyed playing golf with Robert. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City but attended Valley United Methodist Church after moving to West Des Moines.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Diana Reed) of Clive, Iowa; brothers, Bob Kilberg (Cheryl) of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Bill Kilberg (Marilyn) of Niceville, Florida, Jerry Lee Kilberg (Sandy) of Sioux City, Iowa; and sisters, Joan Patrick of Denver, Colorado, and Mary Donna Kilberg of Texas; sister-in-law Darlene Kilberg of South Sioux City, Nebraska; and former daughter-in-law, Sue Nelson of North Liberty, Iowa. Helen is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Henderson (Matt) of Iowa City, Iowa, David Rarick of Greenville, South Carolina, Michelle Campos (James) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Larisa Mendenhall of Clive, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, Alex Henderson, Grant Henderson, Bryan Campos, Jake Campos, Ben Campos and Kailee Mendenhall; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and brother, Raymond.

Helen’s family would like to thank the Urbandale Care Center, Urbandale, Iowa, for their care and attention to Helen over the past few months.
