Morris Jewel Woods born on September 2, 1932, to Chester and Borghild Woods in Murray, Iowa. Leaving the family farm early to go to war, he met a beautiful woman at the train station in Copenhagen while on leave, and brought her home from Stockholm, Sweden to enjoy 57 years of marriage. Inger died on September 10, 2012, and Dad’s life would never be the same.

He tried best he could, but on April 5th he went to Heaven after a short battle of cancer and a long battle of a broken heart. He went with family by his side 24 hours a day in his final weeks. He is at peace with Mom and Monica and we all rest knowing they are together again.

Morris and Inger will both be remembered as wonderful parents and grandparents with many great friends, never meeting a stranger in their travels of the world.

Morris was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the AmVets and Boline-Manfredi VFW Post #9662. He owned and operated South Des Moines Auto Parts for many years.

Morris is survived by his daughters, Susan (Martin) Benskin and Carolyn (Brian) Palmer; his son, Mark (Jodi Lea) Woods; grandson, Alexander (Kristina) Benskin; granddaughters, Christine (Ryan) Greco, Karoline Benskin, Keely and Carly Woods; great-granddaughter, Stella Benskin; nephew, Donny (Alicia) Knox and their children, Amber, April, and Rory (Stacie) Knox; as well as many friends that became like family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inger in 2012; daughter, Monica Elisabet; his parents; and sister, Ruth Knox..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League or Mercy Hospice in Johnston for their loving care of our Dad.
