Service Details

Arthur Glynn, 76, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Arthur was born October 4, 1930 in Florida to Eulish and Nancy (Ming) Glynn. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Miami, Florida. Arthur joined the U. S. Army in 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict in which he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He received an honorable discharge in 1953. On December 20, 1953, he married Glenease Williams at St. Johns Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. Together they moved to New York City where Arthur graduated from Pratt Institute in 1959. In 1964 they moved their family to Toledo, Iowa where Arthur took a position at the State Juvenile Home as Director of Food Services. In 1971 the family moved to Des Moines, Arthur took a position with ARA Food Contractors where he was contracted out to Broadlawns, Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Marshalltown Surgical and Medical Center as Director of Food Service. He retired from ARA in 1991. After retirement, he worked as a volunteer for Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Arthur was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed reading, photography and flower gardening. He was also an Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Glenease H. Glynn; sons, Michael (Renee’) and Marc (Angela) Glynn; daughter, Marjorie (Douglas) Proffitt; grandsons, Justin, Andrew and Zohntay; and granddaughters, Mariah, Shea and Zariah. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Doris.
