Mildred J. Castings

Mildred J. Castings, 96, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Trinity Center at Luther Park.

Mildred was born July 26, 1918 in Collinsville, Illinois to John A. and Mary Ann Wild. She lived most of her life in Des Moines and was a member of Community of Christ Church. Mildred enjoyed her crafts, sewing, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Donna (Robert) Marasco; grandchildren, Nick (Lynn) Marasco and Jody (Shaun) McVey; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Katie and Michael McVey and Jack and Ben Marasco; and a host of extended family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Castings; son, William “Billy” Castings; brothers, Ray (Kathleen) Wild and Ed Wild; sister, Marilyn Riley; and her great-granddaughter, Stella Rose Marasco.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, followed by burial at Lowman Cemetery. Visitation will be held for thirty minutes prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
