Nancy Lydia Myers, 61, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Nancy was born September 27, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ernest and Margaret (Shepard) McKinney. She was a giving person and no one in her family ever went without food, clothing or shelter. She loved taking care of everyone. Nancy had a great sense of humor. She loved people and enjoyed making them laugh. She was a great cook, and enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and camping. Above all else, her family meant everything to her and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her longtime partner, Don Current; children, Stephanie Kristnfek and Cody (Shawn Carton) Current; brothers, Jim (Donna) McKinney and Joe (Lillian) Meredith; grandchildren, Caleb, Carly Rose, Tommy, Jonas, Isaac, Autumn, Tharin and Seth; great-grandchildren, Zophia, Bentley, Lillyian and Aubrey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-son, Mark Current; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

We shared the same last name though we were not blood she cared for me as if I was. She could make you laugh even when your day wasn't going so well. She loved me unconditionally and I am truely going to miss her.Say hello to my grandma Lillian for me.Goodbye Nancy with the same last name as me. Will never forget the things you did for me AND my dad. Godspeed.

Beautiful soul kind hearted person that is who nancy myers was . When i moved in to the house next door to nancy and don ,little did i know that our driveway s wern,t the only thing we shared, wehad become such close friends ,and created a bound that would last forever,we were part of the family as she is part of mine.nancy and i spent alot of times togather . As well as our familys did. she has alway,s been there for me and my kids . Thank you for b days in your front yard for having late night talks,laughing while having a few beers .i f there was an award for the
best neighbor in the world she would win hands down. Nancy myers i love you , will miss you deeply. PraYers to don and family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will always be grateful to Nancy and Don for being so good to my Mom, Lil, their neighbor next door. I have good memories of Nancy, always making me laugh. My sympathy to all of her family.

Nancy was a part of my life for a very long time. We laughed together, we cried together, we helped each other, hunted mushrooms, and did silly things. She gave and gave to anyone and would have given, or may have given, the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it. She deeply loved her family and friends and saw good in most everyone. I loved her like a sister and a friend. She will be truly missed by everyone who's life she touched.

Nancy was a good friend and will be missed . My love and prayers are with her family. She is happy and safe in heaven with her best buddy, Peggy. They are laughing and having a party up there.
She is loved by all & will greatly be missed.

I wish i had an rv, i would pick up as many people as i could and then make a parade to see you off. We would have fireworks, and food, and most of all laughter and love. I can see you up in heaven smiling at all your loved ones.
You will be missed. We do have our memories to keep in our hearts.
