Alan Dale Hummell, age 58, of Grimes, Iowa went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2015. He was born June 23, 1956, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to Joan Hummell Morgan and Rodney Putz. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1974. After serving his country in the US Army and US Air Force, Alan attended Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa, and received his Nursing degree. He lived in Mount Pleasant, Burlington, Arizona, and the last eleven years in the Des Moines area, working as a nurse.

He is survived by his wife, Luci Hummell; stepson and spouse, Wesley and Heather; and granddaughter, Alice. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and John Frieberg; his niece and nephew and their spouses, Nicole and Bill Gibbard and Neil and Beth Beaty; grandnieces and grandnephews, Nick, Brooke, Natalie, Nathan and Brynn; his uncle, Amos Boyt; four stepbrothers and two stepsisters; and his best friend, Tim Wathen.

He was predeceased by his mother; his adoptive father, Melvin Hummell; his grandma and grandpa, Maud and Justin Collatt; his uncles, Andy and Carl; his aunts, Ruth and Goldie; his grandpa, Arlie Boyt; and his stepson, Dakota.

At Alan's request, his body has been cremated. Inurnment will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
