Mona Loree Lytle passed from this life on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the age of 97 and a half years. Mona was born August 16, 1917 to Frank and Augusta (Whitney) Scofield in Glasgow, Montana.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Mona’s family moved to Iowa when she was a child and she graduated from East High School. She met Edward Lytle and they married in 1937. They moved to Wyoming and later to California, where she proudly worked in the shipyards as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. After the war, she and Ed moved back to Des Moines, Iowa, where they lived and raised two daughters, Patricia and Vicki, and a son, Harold Lunsford.

Mona is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Nicholas) Campos; son, Harold (Bertie) Lunsford; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Vicki Diane; great-granddaughter, Derea’; and her siblings, Julia and Ben.
