Josephine E. (Billick) Brown

Josephine E. (Billick) Brown, 67, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at her home.
Jo was born December 15, 1947 in Mason City, Iowa to William and Dorothy (Childers) Billick. She worked as an administrative assistant for Northwestern Bell for 32 years, retiring in 1998. In 1981, she married Weldon Brown, Jr. Jo loved spending winters in Puerto Rico, traveling in their motorhome, gardening and spending time with her family.
Jo is survived by her step-children, Randy (Sarah) Brown and Sheri Heiny; grandchildren, Evan and Ian Brown, Miranda Brown, Danika and Deden Heiny; great-grandchildren, Kimberlyn and Dracen; sisters, Chris (Mark) Halloran and Judy Barron; and her brother, Jack Billick.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Weldon Brown, Jr.; her parents; and her brothers Steve and Dan Barron.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

My heart just fell when I read that Jo had passed away. We were such close friends through all of junior high and high school. We used to eat lunch at her mom's house when she lived near Roosevelt Junior High. He brother once drew a portrait of me. He was a good artist. We would often beg her mom to take us swimming in Clear Lake before we were old enough to drive. I have so many fond memories of her. She was always tenderhearted, friendly, and kind. I've looked for her on facebook a couple of times but could never find her:( I SO wanted to reconnect with her. She was a terrific cheerleader and I would often learn her cheers and practice with her. She looks just like she always did in this picture. Lovely girl, lady and friend. Condolences to the family. I will keep her memory close to my heart. Hope we meet in heaven Jo!
