Russell Plummer, 49, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015. He was born August 16, 1965 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Russell lived his life in Runnells, Iowa and graduated from Prairie City High School in 1984. A short time after graduation he was in a 3 wheel accident which left him with a severe head injury.
Russell lived with his parents until 2000, when he was moved to Careage of Newton Care Center. Russell enjoyed life by camping, car races, fishing, playing cards and working puzzles. Despite the circumstances he always had a smile for everyone.
He is survived by his parents, Frank and Judy Rains; brothers and sisters, Becky (Mike) Uding, Dean (Pam) Rickabaugh, Michelle (Andy) Gennarelli, and Michael (Tina) Rains; his many nieces and nephews; and grandfather, John Rains.
Preceding him in death was his father, Robert Plummer; grandparents, Gerald and Mayme Plummer, Robert and Delores Pepper and Marie Rains.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015 at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 Northeast Rising Sun Drive in Pleasant Hill. He will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Russell.

My condolences to you and your family. I just found out my cousin Rusty passed away; I was shocked. I remember Rusty from Prairie City High School. He was always fun to be around. He was funny and laughed a lot. We were in the same class. His smile is what I remember the most. He lived life the way he wanted to and I am glad I got to know him.

I remember you Rusty when we rode the same bus when I was a kid. You were a lot older than me but you were always a nice guy. From the sounds of it, you lived a life full of joy and doing things you loved even after your accident that changed your life forever. May God have his hands on your family during this time and that they memories they have with you make them smile.

To Judy, Frank & the entire family:
Russell grew up to be such a wonderful young man, but in my heart he will always be "Rusty". He was such a sweet young boy who enjoyed life and always had a smile for you. He loved doing so many things and I would say on the day of his accident he was doing exactly what was making him happy. After his accident, his family remained steadfast and stood by him as he recovered to become the man he was.
My love, prayers and thoughts are with you all as you now go through this healing process of knowing he's free and soaring high.
