D. Leota Myers

Leota Myers, age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Calvin Community.

Leota was born September 19, 1921 to Robert and Minnie Smith on a farm near Rich Hill, MO. She graduated from Rich Hill High School and married Clifford “Shorty” Myers on May 9, 1948. They lived in Quincy, IL where she raised three children and worked as a beautician.

In 1991 Leota moved to Des Moines to be near family. She lived at Plymouth Place for 23 years prior to moving to Calvin Community. She liked to read and visit, and had a quick wit that was enjoyed by many.

Leota is survived by her three children, Terry (John) O’Neal of Pawleys Island, SC, Kent (Marilee) Myers of West Des Moines, and Randall (Debra) Myers of Bettendorf, IA; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers, and a sister.
