Marjory Helen Watkins

Marjory Helen Watkins, 92, quietly passed away March 9, 2015. Marjory was born October 22, 1922 in Guthrie Center, IA to Dorothy (Shoemaker) and Fred Ballou. She grew up in Oskaloosa where she met her husband, Robert Lee Watkins. They lived in Bussey, IA for over 30 years where Marge was a member of United Methodist Church in Bussey, President of WSCS for several years, and supported her husband in Lions Club. In later years, Marjory moved to Des Moines and worked for The Principal Financial Group for 20 years. She was an active member of the F.O.Eagles and enjoyed cooking, reading, playing cards, and time with her family and friends.

Marjory is survived by her son, Robert Mark (Mary) Watkins of Granger; and her daughters, Marsha (Richard) Heck of West Des Moines, and Toni (Ferd) Vander Sluis of Bussey; and eight grandchildren. Marjory was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Jaxie Robertson and Skippy Ballou.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, IA.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for distribution to Gigis (Down Syndrome)-Friday Friends and The Multiple Sclerosis Society-Upper Midwest Chapter.
