Donna Frakes

Donna Jean Eshelman Frakes was born June 5, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Donna graduated from Bondurant High School in 1955, was a member of the IGHSAU Basketball Hall of Fame, and operated her family farm until her retirement. She enjoyed caring for her gardens, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters.

Donna is survived by her children, Susan and Mike Ugulini, Jeffrey Frakes and Lura Shelby, John Frakes and Joel Vander Woude; her grandchildren, Joshua and Mindy Frakes, Amy Ugulini and Matthew Pals, Adam Ugulini and Lauren Ford; her great-granddaughters, Maya Frakes and Jasmine Frakes; and her brothers, Kevin Eshelman and Jerry Eshelman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Genevieve Eshelman; and her brothers, Darrell Eshelman and John Eshelman.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery.
