Rosemary Olson, 85, went to her eternal resting place on Monday, March 9, 2015. She was born June 16, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Albert and Irene Wieland. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1947. She married Eugene R. Olson, February 16, 1952.

Rosemary retired after 25 years from Norwest, now Wells Fargo Bank. She belonged to St. Anthony Catholic Church and served as Lector and Eucharist Minister. She also served three terms as President of the Altar and Rosary Society. Rosemary was President of Bellizzi MacRae American Legion Auxiliary Unit 659 for eight years and as Polk County ALA President for two years. She was active at Pioneer Columbus Senior Center where she enjoyed Wii bowling and playing cards with friends. She kept busy with water aerobics, crocheting, knitting, working counted cross-stitch, and Sudoku puzzles. Above all, Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her family at gatherings and picnics.

Survivors are Rosemary’s five children, Richard E. Olson of Des Moines, Nancy Torode (Bob Eckheart) of Des Moines, Cathy (Ralph) Fenton of Indianola, Dennis (Angela) Olson of Belmond and Edward (Sharon Anderson) Olson of Des Moines. Rosemary had eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene R. Olson; her brother, Eugene (Mary) Wieland; sisters, Alice (Joe) Johnson and Donna Mae (Donald) Joelson; and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a Legion service at 6 p.m. and the Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
