Phyllis Esther Moore, 82, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Phyllis was born December 11, 1932 in Chanute, Kansas to Clarence and Susie (Ponder) Mayfield.

She enjoyed watching television and doing word puzzles. She liked the challenge of putting together jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed playing bingo and card games. Phyllis had a green thumb was very good at taking care of her plants. She enjoyed traveling and was very social; she loved being around people. Phyllis worked as a beautician and very much enjoyed her job. She enjoyed helping others and was employed for a time as a CNA. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and was a longtime member of Maple Street Baptist Church.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Tracy Moore and Yvette (Greg) Rochon; sons, Clyde (Tonya) L. Moore Jr., Donald D. Moore and Ronald (Kim) L. Moore; son-in-law, Jerry Reed; brothers, Clarence Mayfield and James Mayfield; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Chrystal Moore and Roxanne Moore Reed; sisters, Ruth Turner and Judy Puckett; and brothers, Richard Mayfield and Bruce Mayfield.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. There will then be a graveside committal ceremony at 1:00 p.m. at Glendale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Phyllis.
