Lanette Joanne LeCroy, 50, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Lanette was born October 27, 1964 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jack and Druecilla (Hathaway) LeCroy. She graduated from East High School in 1983 and earned her BA from William Penn in Oskaloosa. She was a very gifted, athletic person. She was on Team USA as a tri-athlete and competed in Iron Woman competitions. Lanette loved motorcycles and grew up in that environment. She was proud that she had recently purchased her first Harley that she named “Scarlet.” She loved her family and loved children. She had met the love of her life, her “prince,” Jon.
Lanette is survived by her parents; brother, Lonnie (Crystal); aunt, Lynda (Raymond) Ratliff; nephews, Andrew and Joshua; and her uncles, aunts, and her large extended family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28 at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3615 University Avenue.

Lanette, I will miss your post on facebook and your beautiful smile. I remember in high school you were one of the nicest people I knew. I am thankful we reconnected through fb after all these years and that you and Jon had finally found your soul mates. You will be missed so much. I'm so sorry to the family of Lanette and know you have lost a very special person in your lives. My prayers to the family for comfort.

I never got the privilege to meet Lanette. I know that she made Jon happy and he loved her. From the other condolences left here they were a match made in heaven, sharing a heart for kindness and caring. May you both ride on and rest peacefully knowing that you were loved by so many.

I really enjoyed seeing the happiness Lanette and Jon shared on Facebook. She was a beautiful person. Class of 83 will miss her but will never forget her.

Lanette was always a warm, sweet person. She loved to smile and I enjoyed catching up with her during our picnic at our 30 year class reunion a few years back. I loved her motivational comments she would place on facebook. She will be truly missed!
