Patricia Ann (Adair) Butts, 59, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Patricia was born October 21, 1955 in Batesville, Mississippi. She moved to Iowa as a child and graduated from North High School. She worked for Principal and Marriott. Patricia was active in her church and volunteered for many church activities. She was a Sunday School superintendent and director of Christmas and Easter programs. Patricia met Nathan K. Butts Jr. in 1979 and they were married the same year. They have enjoyed 35 years together. To this union, three children were born, Amanda, Angel (Marlin), and Nathan III.

Patricia was an outspoken woman who loved God and her family. She had a very strong faith and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife and an amazing mother and she will truly be missed. She was also a great cook known for many special dishes.

In addition to her husband and children, Patricia is lovingly remembered by her mother, Eunice Mae (Pigue) Adair; grandchildren, Desantae, Keyvaughn, Lorenzo, Makira, Tseday, Na’Shaya, and Jaylen; goddaughter, Iesha Quinn; siblings, Robert Lee (Valerie) Adair, David Lee (Renna) Adair, Jessie (Tommy) Hardin, Jerry (Melinda) Adair, Barbara (Mark) Adair, Barry (Monica) Adair, Karan (Willie) Quinn, Lonnie Adair (Thomasina Thomas); in-laws, Allen Butts, Marion (Leona) Butts, Tywana Butts, Bridgette Butts, and Patricia (James) Head; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Adair; mother and father-in-law, Alice H. and Nathan K. Butts Sr.; grandparents, Edward Patton, Minnie Robinson, Albert and Bertha Young, John and Fredlee Adair; and grandson, Nathan K. Butts IV.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Home going service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 20 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 1338 9th Street, (corner of 9th and Forest) Des Moines with burial at Glendale Cemetery following the homegoing. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
