Millicent May Churchill, 91 of Altoona, IA passed away peacefully February 10, 2015 in her home. She was born in Tripoli, Wisc. on September 21, 1923 and lived there until her father’s death in 1939. Millicent graduated Tripoli High School and attended nursing school in Chicago, IL. She married Francis Churchill, August 19, 1944, built their homestead on an acreage in Altoona, IA and lived there until her passing.

Millicent was a nurse at Mercy Hospital for 22 years until her retirement. Millicent was a genuine caregiver always caring for her family, nieces, neighbors and husband up until the morning of her death.

She enjoyed swimming and teaching her grandkids how to swim. Loved to camp at Saylorville Lake, bike, talk on the phone, reminisce and catch up on the neighborhood gossip. In their younger years both her and Francis enjoyed snowmobiling even traveled to Minnesota and Wisconsin for many adventures.

Millicent is survived by her husband of 70 years, Francis Churchill and by her two sons: Alan (Jan) Churchill of Denver and Curt (Char Gustafson) Churchill of Pleasant Hill. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 14 great -grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 1 niece, 2 great- nieces and 1 great -nephew.

Millicent was preceded in death by her mother, father and three sisters.

At her request, memorials may be left to The American Heart Association or Wesley Life Hospice.
