Kay A. Ling, 68, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Trinity Center at Luther Park.
Kay was born August 20, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa to Herman and Dorothy Bryne. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City. Kay retired from Principal Financial Group in 2006. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly Church. Kay enjoyed singing and loved her pets.
Kay is survived by her children, Cindy (Tom) Carney, Brian (Helen) Ling, Brad (Sheila) Ling and Mark Ling; siblings, Susan Grove and Bruce Bryne; nephews; nieces; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Douglas Earl Ling; brother, Thomas Bryne; and her fur babies, Annie and Belle.
The family will greet friends Thursday, February 12, 2015 beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Kay will be laid to rest at Avon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

I am a hospice volunteer who visited Kay on 3 occasions, providing her with some guitar music and song. Although I did not get to know Kay through any verbal interaction, it was obvious to me that she had music in her soul. Kay was visually attentive when I played for her, and the last time I visited (2/5/15), she even seemed to be trying to sing along with Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. My prayers are with Kay and her family at this time of loss.

It's with a sad heart that I write this message. I enjoyed Kay so much while working at Principal. We often times met for dinner and had many laughs together. The family of Kay will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the pleasure of working with Kay at Principal. I visited her at Trinity late last year and although she didn't know who I was, we talked and laughed. I still have her Dynasty, the car she gave me for my daughter. That was Kay, a very giving person.

To the family of Kay Ling, I extend my deepest sympathies. Kay was an absolute doll! She could say what she wanted to say and smile and it was okay. I remember her being full of life and spunk when she worked at the Principal. I truly have fond memories of her.

So sad to hear Kay passed away. I worked with her for several years at Principal.....loved it! She had such a good sense of humor. If my day wasn't going well, she would make me laugh.
My sympathy to all of her family. She is at peace now with Doug and her pets.

I worked with Kay at Principal for several years. She was a sweet lady with a great sense of humor. She was ornery but that was part of her charm. I will forever remember her smiley face. I was saddened to hear about her passing. May she rest in peace.
