Felix Suarez, 73, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center.
Felix was born June 23, 1941 in Havana, Cuba to Jose and Petra Suarez. He worked for Flowers by Anthony and Park Ave. Walgreens for over 25 years. Felix was a simple man who had an extreme love for his family. He was kind, had a strong work ethic and enjoyed life to its fullest. Felix, by the Grace of God, recently celebrated 21 years of sobriety.
Felix is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Maria; children, Felix (Elizabeth), Felix (Mindi), Sandra (Curt) and Tanya (Brian); grandchildren, Stephen, Brandon, Sophia, Dominic, Sullivan, George and Garrett; siblings, Bernardo (Xiomara) and Manuel; and a host of extended family and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Maria takes care of my children everyday and I am blessed to say she does. I am so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine loving someone all those years and losing them. It breaks my heart, I can't even imagine your pain. I send my condolences to you, Maria, and to all family and friends of Felix's. If you need anything, please let me know. You are all in my prayers.

I met Felix in 1989. I worked in the Harold Hughes recovery center. My husband was also in treatment that same year. I remember all of us saying "He's never going to make it" And when he took responsibility for his behavior and owned his addiction, he was free to live 21 years a truly humbled and grateful man. I saw Felix periodically over the years, and everytime, it was such a great reunion!! What a joy for all who knew him!

Felix was such a bright spot at Walgreens. Always had a smile for everyone.
