Barb and Pam, Your dad was such a great guy. I know my parents enjoyed being neighbors. The tricks he played and the fun he had with them made their stay in Altoona so much more enjoyable!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I find this very hard to believe. I joined Bill S and Bill Baker at Stockton's 8th Street Store the Fall of 1949, and worked with him there off and on until 1958. Bill Skoog was such a joy to know and work with...he had a tremendous sense of humor. I don't know when I last saw him,but would have been at one of his wife's HS Reunions. He was always so full of life...again I find it very hard to believe that he is gone. I know it is a great loss to his family and more recent friends, but I too feel a deep sense of loss. There just are not enough people like Bill Skoog in this world.

I will always remember your dad as one of our original poker boys. He and I as neighbors in the 3rd st group provided many enjoyable moments to the neighbors as fans of opposing Iowa teams and running the winner of the game flag on the opposing foe's flagpole. Alas, Bill won more times than I. Both of them provided many good times and memories to us.

35 years ago we lived in Altoona, and Bill took a shine to our toddler daughter. We taught Jennifer to say "Herky is a turkey" because we're Iowa State fans. One day she was sitting on your dad's knee after church, and she said it, much to his amusement. Sorry for the loss of both Carol and Bill so close together.

Dear Pam and Barb, I worked for your father at his Super Valu store on Hubbell from when I was a senior in high school thru my 4 years of college. I was fortunate to have him as a role model to see how well he treated customers and especially us employees, and how he was also such a dedicated a family man. He was so much fun to be around. Thank you for sharing your wonderful father with so many people. God Bless.

There isn't anything I can tell you about your Dad that you don't already know. He was bigger than life and the life of the party. More importantly he would give you anything you needed. He was a good friend and made working at Super Valu a pleasure. I will miss him. Your family is in my prayers.

Truly a wonderful man. I always enjoyed talking with Bill at work for his insight and his humor. He always remembered me as a little boy when my mom shopped at his store on Hubbell. Blessings to his family at this time of loss. .
