Helen Elizabeth Deets

Helen Elizabeth Deets passed away in Des Moines, Iowa, Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015 at the age of 91. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Helen was always gracious and welcoming. Her positive attitude and grateful spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7th at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 1 PM with the funeral beginning at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery and a reception will be held at 3 PM in the main dining room at Valley View Village, 2571 Guthrie Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50317.

Helen was born in Des Moines on August 18, 1923, to Fred Henry Clausen and Clara Harscher Clausen. She was raised in "Snusville", a small east side neighborhood, along with her sister, Flora Clausen Easter and her brother, Fred H. Clausen.

Helen graduated from East High School in 1941 and married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Henry Deets upon his return from WWII in 1945. They had two sons, Ted H. Deets and Thomas F. Deets.

Helen is survived by two sons: Ted Henry Deets (Sue), Thomas Floyd Deets (Ellie), six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother and husband.
