Mary Marshall
January 25, 2015
Mary S. Marshall, 94, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family January 25, 2015, at Parkridge Care Center. She was born in Philadelphia, PA September 5, 1920. Mary had four siblings, Clarence Jr., Myrtle Thompson, Virginia Dulaney and Beverly Barnes.
Mary moved to Des Moines around 1925 and met her future husband, Joseph F. Marshall, when she was 12 years old. They married after high school and were happily married until Joe’s death in 1986. Mary had a generous heart. She was the first to arrive when friends and family were in need. Mary always remembered your birthday with a card or a call and enjoyed the company of her life-long friends.
Mary is now with the Lord, her Joe, daughter Mary Joe Zajac, sons-in-law Dwayne “Mike” Ables and Zeke Zajac, her parents, siblings and a host of friends and family who were dear to her heart. Those left to cherish Mary’s memory are her daughter Nancy, granddaughter Leslie, great-grandson Austin, and extended family. A private memorial was held graveside at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkridge for the tremendous support and excellent care provided to our Mary the past three years.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be directed to the family to be determined at a later date.
