Doris Annabelle Harlan went home to be with her Lord and Savior, at the age of 91, on January 22, 2015. She passed away peacefully at her home in Des Moines.
Doris was born November 23, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Anson and Berniece Cronk. She graduated from East High School, enjoying activities such as baseball and tennis.
Her first place of employment was at Meredith Publishing at the age of 18. Her first job entailed writing Christmas cards for Meredith.
Doris married the love of her life, Donald St. Claire Harlan, who passed away in 2008. In addition to raising two daughters (Donna and Dianna), she volunteered as Counselor for the women of the Polk County jail.
Doris was a member of Bondurant Federated Church. She always had a heart for leading others to Christ. At the end of each day her question remained: Have I pointed them to you Lord?
Doris is survived by her daughter, Dianna Willett; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Thompson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 2-5 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, IA. A private family graveside service will be conducted at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Bondurant Federated Church, 103 2nd Street SW in Bondurant, IA on Monday, February 2, 2015, at 10:30 a.m.

God bless each of you as you adjust to your lives without this precious lady. She was a dear friend for many years such a sweet Christian . I have many wonderful memories of her and Don. What a reunion they are having.

My deepest condolences to the incredibly loving family of Doris Harlan. She has touched the lives of SO many people, lived her faith, and led by example.
