Ralph Jennings

Ralph Kenneth Jennings passed away with his family beside him on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Ralph was born on February 22, 1927 to Mary (Ramson) and George Jennings in Des Moines.
Ralph married Darlene Goble on November 14, 1946. Together they were blessed with two sons, Richard and Steven. Ralph served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. Following the war from 1946 to 1951, he was an operator for the Des Moines Streetcar. He then joined the DSM Fire Department where he served for 25+ years, working his way from a Private to a Paramedic. He retired in May of 1972. He also owned and operated Jennings T.V. Service for over 50 years. Ralph will be remembered as a self-made man. He enjoyed carpentry but his main passion was refurbishing and showing antique cars.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; his son, Steven (Diana); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and one sister; his son, Rick and great-grandson, Preston.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Avon Cemetery.

We always enjoyed visiting with Ralph at the car shows and the knowledge and parts he provided while Henry was working on his own car were much appreciated. Our sympathy to all the family.
