Hazel M. Soroka

Hazel Marie Soroka passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines. Hazel was born to Florence (Hudson) and Alvin Hoard on August 9, 1924 in Des Moines.

Hazel enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Everyone who cared about her has a doily or an afghan. She was a long-time member of TOPS Chapters 888 & 1389, WOW group, as well as Christ the King Catholic Church. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Cora May (Bill) Kimbro; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and other loving family and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter Soroka and her sister, Gertrude Wachter.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. rosary service, Monday, January 19, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20th at Christ the King with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
