Terry E. Bowman, 69, passed away at his home surrounded by his family Wednesday, January 14, 2015.

Terry was born July 16, 1945 in Des Moines to Lewis and Leona (Miller) Bowman. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. Terry retired from Mercy Hospital in 2000 after 10 years of service in the maintenance dept. Prior to Mercy, he had worked for Union Park Care Center for 10 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Terry is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Cindy (Allen), Joyce, Ronnie (Sue), Jackie and Laura (Mike) Utonia; sister, Madge (Walt); brothers, Dr. Donnie Bowman (Elaine) and Keith (Sandra); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmie Taylor; and son-in-law, Lonnie Frakes.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
