Mable Short, 101, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. She was born November 6, 1913 to Charles and Edith in Lucas County

Mable was a pediatric nurse’s aid at Lutheran Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting afghans, and cooking.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Hiatt, and Mary Joanne Taber; son, Vern Hiatt; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17th, also at the funeral home, with burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
