James Jackson, 56, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at home unexpectedly. Jim was born May 14, 1958 in Des Moines. He grew up on the East Side and attended East High School. He was a talented experienced mechanic who worked on everything from cars to giant cranes. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his willingness to help whenever he could. His favorite quote from his father was, “It’s better to be able to help someone, than to need the help yourself”.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Sundell) Jackson of Des Moines; sons, Jeremiah, and Josh Jackson and his daughter, Natalie; daughter, Heather (Adam) and their daughter, Ariya, all of Des Moines; his mother, Martha Jackson of McGregor, Iowa; brother, Richard of Des Moines; sisters, Sharon (Harold) Brooks, and Cindy (Roland) Lindner of McGregor, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Jackson.
Visitation will be Friday, January 16, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.
