Fred C. Vasey

Fred C. Vasey, 71, passed away peacefully January 10, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born April 27, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to Laura (Killen) and Winfred Vasey.
Fred will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He had a wonderful work ethic, which allowed him to own Howard Martin Auto Body for over 20 years. Fred was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and The Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Roberta; sons, Robert (Sue) and Bradley (Lora) Vasey; grandchildren, Hunter and Keely; siblings, May (John), Betty, Frank, Roy, Evelyn, Henry (Becky), George (Connie), Harold (Darlene), Carl (Ardie) and Winfred, Jr.; a host of other loving family and friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th in Des Moines. Visitation will occur Friday evening from 5-7:00 pm at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed toward The American Cancer Society in loving memory of Fred.

Uncle Fred was the best! He always knew how to put a smile on your face. I loved going to his and Roberta's house as a kid. Those were the good old days! I know my dad (Harold Vasey) was very close to Uncle Fred and will miss him dearly. -May you rest in peace
