Walter "Buddy" Rummans
January 08, 2015
Walter “Buddy” Rummans, 80, of Knoxville, formerly of Des Moines, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was born to Walter and Georgena (Davis) Rummans on November 20, 1934.
He married Peggy Decker on June 5, 1953. He made his confession of faith and was baptized at Hope Lutheran Church at the age of 24.
He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 61 years, his sisters, Bonnie Dellaca, Barbara Riley (Roy), Cora Scopa (Jim), and brother Fred, his sister in law, Diane Harris, (Ray), brother in law, Mike Decker, four daughters; Linda Goodwin, (Rick), Cindy Sparks, (Bruce), Debra Gieseke, (Ron), Juli Rinehart, (Michael), and two sons; Mark, Charlie, (Deb). Twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and one on the way, as well as many nephews and nieces and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Walter, who died in infancy, brothers-in-law, Frank Dellaca, Ronnie Decker; sisters-in-law, Patty Zuber, and Mary Beth Rummans.
The memory of a good person is a blessing and how blessed are all those who knew him. Walt shared his love of family, gardening, fishing, wild game feeds, hunting and living life generously and honestly with all he came in contact with so his love will live on in all who live his example.
He was a member of the Des Moines Freemasons and was a problem solver in heating & air for Bell Brothers and City Wide and as a dock hand at Iowa Parcel he served as union steward and contract negotiator. We will celebrate his life with a gathering of family and friends this summer.

You advised us to walk tall; we placed our foot in your palm and with your humble strength you lifted us toward heaven; you inspired us to catch the passing cloud and you would not let us fall; because you loved so honestly.
I will miss you so very much Grandpa. You will always be the greatest man I know.
