Mary Vincent

Mary Jane Vincent passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Fleur Heights Care Center with her loving family beside her. Mary was born on June 25, 1931 to Ruth (Rinehart) and William Siddens in Harrison County, Missouri. She had four siblings, Garvin, Billy, June and Wilma.
Mary started school at age 5 in a one room school house. She lived 18 years on a farm and graduated New Hampton High School in 1949. In June 1950, she was united in marriage to John R. Vincent. They moved to Des Moines and had three children, David, Sheryl and Barbara. Mary and John joined Park Avenue Presbyterian Church. She stayed in the same neighborhood on the south side her whole life. She enjoyed housekeeping, sewing, cooking and gardening. Mary retired in 1991, from Downy Printing after many years of dedicated service as a bookbinder. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.
Those left to cherish her life are her children, David (Marlene) Vincent, Sheryl (Rich) Bro, and Barbara (Jeff) Brittain; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Vincent and her siblings.
Family will greet friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mary.

Grandma, you will be greatly missed, but we know you are in a better place, reunited with Grandpa and other loved ones. Thanks for all the great memories and we'll be sure to keep your delicious recipes going, although they will be hard to duplicate. You may be gone from the physical world, but never forgotten. Love you always!
