Sherman Rhoades, Sr.

Sherman Rhoades, Sr., 73, passed away at home Thursday, January 8, 2015 of liver disease. Sherman was born May 29, 1941 to James and Bertha Rhoades.

He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines, where he worked for Howard McReynolds in Mercer, MO, Farm Craft Feed and retired from Firestone Retread. Sherman was a handy man at home and took care of all of his neighbors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy; sons, Sherman, Jr., Don, and Randy; daughter, Kim; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Sherman was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; three sisters; infant daughter; and grandson.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with a visitation for one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow the funeral.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Sherman.
