Mary Anne Lydon, 88, went to be with God after a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston.

Mary Anne was born September 17, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Raleigh and Nellie (Winberg) Franklin. She loved gardening and had a very green thumb. She was a caring person and donated much of her time to volunteer work. She enjoyed crafts and was very active in her church, Visitation Catholic Church (Our Lady of the Americas).

Mary Anne is survived by her children, Kathy (Vern) Jager, Dennis (Terry), Patrick (Janet), and Nancy (Steven) Sims; four grandchildren, Rich (Tressa) Jager, Kimberly (Rick) Kellogg, Kelli Lydon and Kate Lydon (Ryan Larson); and five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kortni, Kasey, and Ryan Kellogg and Chris Jager. She was preceded in death by Paul, her loving husband of over 50 years, her parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 12 at Our Lady of Peace Chapel, Bishop Drumm Care Center, 5837 Winwood Drive, Johnston, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
