Dorothy Backstrom, 81, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at Genesis Senior Living Center. She was born December 14, 1933 in Linden, Iowa to Elsie and Carl Borst.
Dorothy worked for many years in management at Meredith. She enjoyed knitting, ceramics, camping and most of all time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dennis, Doug, Doyle and Donald Wieser; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. There will be a private inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

My heart hurts for all her family! Dorothy and Norm were like grandparents to me and my siblings. They were beautiful, thoughtful, kind....we are ever so grateful to have known them and have them in our lives.

I want to express my deepest condolences. I worked many years with Dorothy. She was more than my boss, but a friend too. She was a one of a kind. I will miss her.
